Do you really need surgery for slipped disc?

Background

Mr J was diagnosed with MRI as intervertebral slipped disc by NHS doctors. His syptoms were severe back pain, together with left leg intermittent pain and left foot numb. His doctor advised him surgery but would need to wait 6 months. The pain got so severe that the pain killers got less effective.

Treatments

Dr Nan checked Mr J’s condition and advised him acupuncture. It took 10 sessions due to the severity of his condition. After the 10 sessions, his pain has significantly reduced and he could live normal life. When his time of surgery arrvied, his doctor asked him to walk around the office and asked him if he feels pain. Mr J replied he felt no pain and can walk freely. The doctor said then the surgery was not needed as the best outcome of the surgery would be like this. He already achieved the result without surgery.

Conclusion

If your doctor has run out of ideas and advise surgery for your disc problem, it is worth talking to Dr Nan for a second opionion. In most cases, the slipped disc issue is not only to do with the disk, it could be the result of imbalance of muscles in the back, pelvis and leg. Dr Nan uses western medical diagnosis as basis and use her hand to check muscle ligament and tendon, the areas which X-ray, CT and MRI will not show soft tissue. After confirming the pain position and cause, Dr Nan will use acupuncture and cupping to relax the soft tissues from low back, pelvis, and legs to eliminate the pain. At the same time, the treatment can mitigate the discomfort caused by the pressure of the visceral nervous system.
