Headache in IT

Background

Mr Dawson was an IT professional and just turned 40 years old when he started having migraine and dizziness. It then gets worse that he start feel headache and nausea. He went to the doctor and X-ray showed he got cervical compression which limit blood supply to the brain. At this stage, he had more symptoms such as difficulty to fall asleep, tinnitus, fatigue and back stiffness.

Treatments

Dr Nan checked Mr Dawson’s neck and shoulder and could feel the C2 (Axis) of the cervical spine sticked to the right side. The nerve controlling the muscle and the nerver controlling the organs stem from the same nerve root located between the cervical vertebra. When the nerve root located at Axis is compressed, not only the muscle controlled by it will feel pain, stiff even numb, the organ nerve will also lead to migrain, nausea, eyesight blur and speeding heartbeat. This is the root cause of Mr Dawson’s symptoms determined by Dr Nan.

Dr Nan performed acupuncture and cupping treatments on Mr Dawson’s shoulder and back. These treatments aimed to relax the stiff muscle on the shoulder and back and once these muscle was relaxed, the tendon and ligament will relax accordingly. This leads to the gap widens between the cervical vertebra which releases the compression of the nerve root. After a few sessions of treatments, almost all the symptoms were significantly diminished. The C2 was back to normal without needing osteopath nor chiropractor which could damage soft tissues. Mr Dawson’s feedback was he felt like a new person with much better brain function and he could have better self-control and even lose some weight as a result.
